Memorial Weekend, 4th of July and Labor Day Weekend 2010

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

May thru September is a beautiful time of year here at the Ranch.  It’s a time of year we are moving the cows and calves to different pastures … fixing fence, tree thinning, farming and other chores.

For those of you who enjoy horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching … consider spending one of the three long weekends here at the Ranch.  We are offering camping sites for you and your family … and your horse if you like.  (Please see our website Homestead Vacations for more details regarding Camping Sites for You and Your Horse!)

Oberg Brothers Ranch is located 12 miles N.E. from Tonasket, Wa. in the Okanogan Highlands. The  camping areas are naturally beautiful and just for you to enjoy! Bring your tent … camper … fifth wheel, as you need to be self-contained.

Camping sites for Memorial Weekend …

Besides the activities here, there are a lot of fun places to visit. There are fishing lakes nearby … Fancher Dam, which is pictured below is nice for fishing, it’s located 1 mile away, walking distance. Other lakes include Bonaparte Lake, Beaver Lake, Lost Lake … all these lakes are 40 to 60 minutes from the Ranch.  In July, these lakes are fun for swimming too!

A nearby Day Spa is 5 miles away … for a nice massage after a long horseback ride or hike.  Serenity Day Spa is a beautiful place to relax and be pampered.

If you enjoy “Wine Tasting”, we have 4 very nice wineries in the area … Copper Mountain Vineyards, Okanogan Estate and Vineyards, Esther Bricques and Lake Crest Winery.

The 4th of July Weekend … a Sunday

This year the 4th of July is on a Sunday.  If you have never seen a country rodeo … Chesaw Rodeo is a great place for families. Located  in the Okanogan Highlands, 45 minutes from the Ranch, the Chesaw Rodeo has entertained the community and vistors for over 60 years.  The night before there’s a Barn Dance for all ages; then, on the 4th, the Chesaw Rodeo. Some of the events are Cow Riding, Saddle Broncs, Wild Cow Milking, Barrel Racing and crazy games for the kids! The day starts at 10:30 a.m. and ends around 4:00 p.m. Then there are fireworks at Deep Bay (at Lake Osoyoos) in Oroville … starting when the sun goes down.

If you are looking to get away from all the “excitement” of the 4th, and have some peace and quiet … we can provide that too. Since we do not allow fireworks on the Ranch, due to fire danger, there’s a great light display in the midnight skies … bring your telescope and enjoy the show!

Labor Day Weekend

It’s that last weekend before school starts … a great weekend to enjoy a nice sunny day.  The Ranch is at an elevation from 3400′ to 4000′, and it’s a great spot to get out of the heat of the valley. The nearby lakes Bonaparte LakeLost Lake and Beaver Lake are warm to swim in, and the Havillah sunsets are beautiful.

A fun day for music lovers is the Rendezvous Rhythm and Blues Festival at Lake Osoyoos this weekend. There’s also the Molson Museum, which has very interesting history of years past.  It has an old one-room schoolhouse to explore and a variety of old buildings to view.

Oberg Brothers Homestead Vacations is for those who want to enjoy nature, the outdoors and see what Ranch life is like … or for those of you who love new places to see and new things to do … or BOTH!

Prices for You … 3 – 4 day stay recommended …  $100.00 per person per day.

Prices for You and Your Horse … $150.00 per pair per day.
